About SFF and Shawn Credle

Shawn Credle is a United States Marine Corps War Veteran from the state of Connecticut.  He has always had a love for sports but had a bigger love for football.  He played football in high school and had aspirations of becoming a sports physician in hopes of becoming a professional football team’s physician.  An injury during a football game sidelined his hopes of trying out for college football.  He decided he would rehabilitate himself and enter one of, if not the most respected and toughest military organizations in the world, the United States Marine Corps.

Shawn served from 1999-2003 while graduating first in the class, becoming the Honor Graduate of his military training school.  Prior to September 11, 2001 (9/11), a day that changed the world, Shawn was a young Marine loving that fact that he could someday have a hand in helping people whether foreign or domestic while still playing football for his battalion league.  Well that commitment/opportunity certainly didn’t take a long time to present itself.  Shawn served with some of the most honorable men and women not only within his Marine Corps family but with other branches of our domestic military as well as foreign military troops.  While serving, he found that because of his anatomy/physiology background, he understood proper ways in which to train our bodies effectively and efficiently to maximize results.  He also had a very good understanding of the impact our nutrition has on our training as well as our lives to include longevity.

His first fitness idol was the late but forever great Jack LaLanne whom Shawn considers the godfather of fitness and nutrition. Jack promoted with emphasis on functional training which is training for life and not a gym but still increases strength, endurance, low injury risk, and increased flexibility to name a few advantages all with a remaining focus on proper nutrition.  Jack knew that he had the desire and the ability to reach the masses in order to promote fitness and nutrition as a major focus in our lives and as a society.  Shawn then found himself obsessed with learning more about fitness and nutrition and became certified in those fields.

Shawn went on to help his fellow Marines by conducting nutritional guidance along with creating training programs to see that his Marines were always at the ready for when our country or the world needed us.  Shawn was able to help many people not just with fitness/nutrition but through his service during the war.  He finally came to a revelation that helping people is something he felt he needed to continue to do long after his service to his country.

Shawn was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 2003 and took the position of the Director of the Audio/Visual Department of a college in his home state of Connecticut.  There he also completed two degrees.  He received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Bachelors’ degree in Management Information Systems (M.I.S.) both with honors.  He went on to complete his Masters Degree (MBA) in Business Management (with honors).  He is currently in the process of completing his second Masters Degree in Business Intelligence (M.I.S.).  He still continued to counsel and coach those who wanted to live healthy lives but had the desire to one day do this as a sole profession.  He soon learned of his next fitness idol to be Tony Horton, the creator of P90X.  It was Tony and his extreme functional training that allowed Shawn to train at the level he was used to as a Marine.  However, Tony’s style can also be modified for all fitness levels, leaving room for progression.  It was then Shawn realized that he too wanted to reach the masses just as Jack and Tony have done in order to help people live healthy lives.  However, Shawn went on to work in the corporate world as a business analyst climbing his way up the management/corporate ladder until he was ready to start his fitness and nutrition business so that he could follow in his idols (Jack and Tony) footsteps to help people combat their weaknesses and live healthy lives.

Now, through Semper Fi Fitness, Shawn has fulfilled his dream to continue to help people just as he was able to do when serving his country.  He’s able to apply his knowledge for fitness and nutrition combined with his analytical expertise as an analyst as well as the level of oversight, passion, motivation skills, attention to detail, leadership, and all around work ethic as a U.S. Marine.  However, like his fitness idols, he’s now able to reach the masses in hopes of empowering people to maximize their longevity.

Shawn is also a certifying instructor for people taking his course in order to become Certified Personal Trainers (CPT).  He teaches a revolving six week (2hrs/twice per week) course to students at a training/learning facility.  He conducts classroom lectures of various fitness, training, and nutrition subjects as well how to own/operate a fitness business (state registration, insurance, tax guidance, financial/accounting records).  He also facilitates a series of lectures and exams to include Trainer Ethics and Responsibilities, Anatomy & Physiology, Kinesiology, and Nutrition.  Upon successful completion of the course, Shawn is happy to sign their national Certified Personal Trainer certificate (also valid in Canada). Shawn finds it very fulfilling to be able to have a hand in producing professional and ethical trainers into the world to help him and others like him to help people live healthier lives.

Shawn had the honor and privilege to meet and work with one of his idols, Tony Horton on his latest fitness project.  Tony fully endorsed Semper Fi Fitness and Shawn Credle as a fitness and nutrition specialist.  Coming from the man himself, this validates Shawn as the real deal.  Video clip below:
